Abstract:The poster design style of Kazumasa Nagai, the Japanese master of graphic design has experienced several changes. His abstract geometric style began from the 1960s and 1970s which later gradually evolved into a hand-drawing style of image in the 1980s and 1990s. Eventually Zen nihility style was formed in the late 1990s. The evolution closely followed the development of the time. The persistence in his mind dominated the evolution of the styles while the traditional oriental elements were incorporated into the poster creations. Such consistent pursuit stems from his respect for Zen spirit of the admiration of nature and love of life in traditional Japanese culture. It agrees with the eternal truth that man and nature are in harmony, surviving together in the world.
