Abstract:Prehistoric packaging came into being with the needs of prehistoric human in living and production process. The major materials of prehistoric packaging include pottery, bamboo, wood, grass, jute, fur and cashew nut shell etc. Natural materials such as plant leaves, fiber and shells were generally used to package, strap, contain and transport food. The function of prehistoric packaging only stayed in the most basic“package”and“load”stage. Investigating and analyzing prehistoric natural materials could help modern designers rethink the use of natural materials.
