Abstract:Pottery containers in the Spring and Autumn warring states period demonstrate different types and shapes, such as cans, pots, jars, pottery boxes and so on. These containers can be basically classified into food packaging and drink packaging categories, among which the most distinctive is the pottery packaging unearthed in Baoshan Chu Tomb with obvious attributes of specific packaging, and could be called the earliest ceramic canned food packaging. However, the rise of lacquer ware and the success of porcelain firing in the late Eastern Han Dynasty led to the gradual degradation of ceramic packaging container’s function, and its ultimate elimination in the end.
