Abstract:By means of using traditional forms such as balance and symmetry, hemispherical dome, and traditional graphs and patterns such as totem of animals and plants, Taiji vegetarian design, lucky cloud case, combined with traditional colours such as China red, Imperial yellow, blue-and-white, by using Chinese fonts appropriately, traditional Chinese symbols in modern packaging design make traditional symbols in harmony with the products, and promote the value of the products. Under the condition of using traditional Chinese symbols to design modern packaging, several semantic roles can be concluded such as conveying products’ information, showing emotional value and delivering cultural content. Not only need we inherit traditional Chinese symbols, but also try to find the meeting point between tradition and modern, and to promote modern packaging design vitality and sense of time by means of some clever methods such as deconstruction, combination, joining together, refining, summarization and deformation.
