On the assumption of the function utility being satisfied, the green design of modern furniture must have good security to satisfy people's demands in psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects, therefore it can achieve harmony with people. Furniture design should consider fully the influence of material selection, production and furniture life cycle etc. on nature with the purpose of harmonization with nature. Furthermore, a systematic and holistic design concept to achieve the social optimum should be followed to achieve social harmony. Key words ：modern furniture；green design；harmony
