Abstract:The food packaging design for aged people often failed to fully consider the specific physiological and psychological needs of the elderly and it is usually difficult to identify or open the packaging. Designers in the field could adopt the way of simplifying and integrating design by using a simple graphical language. The methods include restructuring the scattered information, strengthening the important information, making the way of opening legible for the elderly, improving the legibility of the packaging, using instructional design, effectively communicating through commodity packa-ging such as explanatory text information, enhancing the easy identification of the packaging, integrating the packaging structure and simplifying the complex structure, and strengthening the important function of reuse structure, highlighting the packaging feature of being easy to take and hold. At the same time, the auspicious packing could be applied to cater to the aged psychology such as patterns of health and longevity to establish a healthy, positive psychological suggestion.
