Abstract:Beloved is the masterpiece of Toni Morrison, African American female writer and Nobel Literature Prize winner. The novel is based on a real story about a mother killing her infant, which vividly depicts the horrible and fantastic characteristics of the slave system in America by using poetic, picturesque and plaintive language. The author carries out the tradition of Western Gothic literature in expressing the African American women's hard trip of fighting under the oppression of the cruel slave system, the extreme racism and deep-rooted sexism, and encourages the black women to get rid of the historical obstacles, make good use of the present and plan well for the future.
