Wu Dingyu's academic research is with distinct cultural characteristics. His judgment of Chinese culture and literature in transition,a unique concept of “Literature in Transition China”, and the study of Ba Jin, Guo Moruo and Chen Yinque,are all made important contribution to the studies of Chinese modern literature and the literary history writing whit a new perspective.
