Lu Yin created a “Lu Yin style” portrait of the heroines through the series of autobiography novels. Those novels showed the spirits of women of “May 4th”generation through her own experience. A new generation of intellectual women came out of the old-style families with courage and pursued their ideals. Ultimately, they had no choice but to face the sad reality of nowhere after a confusing and painful struggle. In this process, the knowledge women had undergone a spiritual experience of obtaining the enlightenment, retrospecting the enlightenment and abandoning the enlightenment at last. Through the group portraits of “Lu Yin style”, we can better understand the intellectual women and have a further reflection on the “May 4th” enlightenment movement.
